Carol Elaine Skala, 70 , passed away May 8, 2023 in Naples, FL surrounded by her loving family.
Carol was born on August 24, 1952 in Harvey, IL. She graduated from Lincoln Way Central High School New Lenox, IL and years later went back to school at International College Naples,FL.
On February 14, 1970 Carol married Michael Skala, Sr. She worked at Silver Cross Hospital Joliet, IL in the neonatal unit and later as a medical assistant in multiple medical offices where she became fast friends with the physicians she worked with.
Carol is survived by her husband, Michael Skala Sr, her five children: Michael Skala Jr (DiAnn), Garrett W. Skala (Katie), Jeff Skala (Lilly), Christina Skala, Andrew (A.J.) Skala, her grandchildren: Brittney Ducci (Joe), Keziah Cobden, Joey Kristine Skala, Garrett M. Skala, Leah Battle, her great-grandchildren: Gabriella Martin, Levi Martin, Olivia Ducci and was Mimi to Olivia and Eli Skala. Carol was also survived by her sister Charlotte LaRue, her brother Bob Dickens (Kim) and numerous nieces and nephews. Carol was predeceased by her parents Erdic and Flo Dickens and her brother Steve Dickens (Sarah).
Carol loved family, being a mother and a grandmother. She had a love for animals especially horses, dogs and dolphins. She spent many years raising and showing quarter horses in IL. In 2000 she and Michael relocated to their dream home in Naples, FL. She was an active member of Destiny Church Naples and her congregation became a huge part of her family. In 2012, she and Michael became foster parents and welcomed many children into their home. She loved drag racing, shopping and spending time with her family. Carol loved the beach and the FL sunshine.
A celebration of life will be held on May 13, 2023 at Destiny Church Naples 6455 Hidden Oaks Ln Naples, FL 34119 (239)938-6950 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Destiny Church Naples. @ destinynaples.org.
