David Charles Geoffrey, 84, of Naples, FL passed away on February 18, 2023. Born October 16, 1938 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan to Vincent and Agnes Geoffrey. David is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Rita of 55 years, and his two brothers, Steve and Jim Geoffrey. He is survived by his brother Mark and sister-in-law Sonia, and sister-in-law Mary Ann, “Bo”; children Cindy Geoffrey-Wylie, Karen (Geoffrey) Johnson and husband Paul, Mark Geoffrey and wife Leslie; grandchildren, Katherine (fiance Kevin Witenoff), Julia and Derek Johnson, Abigail and Andrew Geoffrey. His many cherished nieces, nephews and Canadian cousins all held a very special place in David’s heart along with Cindy’s two stepchildren, Jaclyn, Brent and five grandchildren.
David graduated from Lawrence Institute of Technology in 1970 with a degree in Science in Industrial Management. He had a long and successful management career in the building products industry, with much of his career spent at Stanley Door Systems. He later retired from Durand Forms in 2001.
David married Rita Rossi in 1959. Together, they had three children and built eight homes. In doing so, they made friends and memories in Warren, Troy, Fenton, and Clarkston, MI, St. Louis, MO, Richmond, IN, and eventually Naples, FL. If it was time to paint, it was time to move!
David was passionate about music and loved listening to jazz. Growing up, he played trumpet and was the front-man for a band he and his brothers formed, The Rhythm Kings. David loved “hand-dancing”, popcorn, impersonating Donald Duck, dogs, and birds, and printing the internet. He also never missed an opportunity for some chocolate! He reminded us that you are never too old to be a kid. We will remember fondly and miss dearly his passion for music, his goofy sense of humor, and his love and respect for family and traditions.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Finbarr Parish, Naples, FL on March 3, 2023 at 11:00 am and at Sacred Heart Parish, Auburn Hills, MI on March 13, 2023 at 11:00 am.
