DOLORES MARIANA (ACOSTA) DENIS, 73 of Bonita Springs, FL passed away on September 18, 2020 after a long battle with brain cancer.
Born in Quito, Ecuador on March 26, 1947 the daughter of the late Jose Acosta and Maria America Ordonez Pena, Dolores arrived in Miami, Fl at a young age and subsequently moved to Brooklyn, NY. After marriage and having her first child she moved to New Jersey. Upon retirement she and her husband moved to Bonita Springs, Fl where they resided for 10 years.
Dolores was known by her family as “Loly” and by friends as “Mama D” but her husband Tom only called her “Love” since the day they met.
Loly first and foremost loved to be in the company of her family. She took great joy in being surrounded by the people she loved. Her grandchildren were her special angels. She loved the beach, painting, knitting and cooking. She was an avid reader and could not go to sleep without reading from her latest book.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Tom A. Denis, children Marc A. Denis and wife Emily of Chattanooga, TN, and Jennifer Denis of Bonita Springs, FL.
Loly is also survived by her siblings, Jose Acosta and his wife Donna of St. Louis, MO, Ana Figueroa of Ridgewood, NY, Elizabeth Diaz and her husband Tony of Valley Stream, NY and Leonor Kasten and her husband Douglas of Bonita Springs, FL.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Matthew Narinesingh, Lucas Davis, Jacob Davis and Zoe Hope Denis.
My “Love” was a gift to us all. Her captivating smile and large brown eyes lightened hearts and brought joy to family, friends and strangers. She left the world a better place but it is not whole without her.
