Ed began his career in education as Director of American Training School from 1960-1962. In 1962 Ed founded Newbury School of Business. Which later became Newbury Junior College and then Newbury College; he served as president of the institution and as a trustee, until 1998 when he retired to his home on Cape Cod.

Ed truly loved his work and throughout his career and life he was involved in many different ventures. When Ed was not working you could find him skiing the White Mountains of New Hampshire in the winter, fishing the waters of Cape Cod Bay or quail hunting in the woods of New England. He and his best friend Beverly traveled the world for many years. Ed spent his later years in Naples, FL only returning to Cape Cod for the summer.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a funeral service will be held in Barnstable, MA this coming spring and Ed will be laid to rest at Lothrop Cemetery with its view of Sandy Neck.
