Obituary for Francis Joseph "Frank" Murphy

Francis (Frank) Joseph Murphy, 89, passed away on March 4, 2021. Most recently recognized as a staple running the meat department at Oakes Farms on Davis Blvd for almost 20 years, Frank started in the grocery business at the early age of 7 on Long Island, NY, where he grew up. He became an executive for Pathmark Supermarkets and moved to Branford, CT, in 1975. While in CT, he was a member of Pilgrim Harbor Golf Club, sat on the Board of Directors for East Haven Youth Hockey Association, and he was deeply devoted to the Charismatic Renewal at Sacred Heart Church in New Haven. Early retirement from Pathmark in 1988 led to a relocation to Naples, FL, where he resided at Foxfire Golf and C.C. with his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Phyllis. A very proud Irish Roman Catholic, he was an active parishioner at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, where he was the leader of the church lectors and spiritual guide and founder of the Living Waters prayer group. Frank was an avid reader, golfer and food-lover. He had a zest for life, incredible sense of humor, and was an eternal optimist. Wherever his journey took him, Frank developed meaningful and lasting friendships all along the way. He had a gift for positively influencing so many people, and everyone that crossed his path truly loved him.

Frank is survived by his current loving wife, Joanne Mahoney; his children Jacqueline Stahl, Kimmy Camirand and Ed Murphy; and two grandchildren, Kristi and Stacie Camirand.

A celebration mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Seton Church at 10:00 a.m. on April 30. In lieu of flowers, please send donations made in Frank’s honor to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Mass General Hospital.
