Obituary for Hal T Hansen


Hal Thuroe Hansen
November 23, 1936 – June 7, 2022


Hal T. Hansen of Naples, Florida passed away on Tuesday. He was born in Hutchinson, Kansas in 1936 and graduated from the University of Kansas with a bachelor’s degree in finance. Hal and his wife of 63 years, Lou Ann, have been loyal members of Moorings Presbyterian Church.

Hal spent his entire 40-year career working for Cargill Inc., with the last 20 years as president of Cargill Investors Services (CIS), their futures brokerage subsidiary. Hal was very active in the National Futures Association (NFA) and was Chairman of the Futures Industry Association (FIA) in 1992-1993 and served on the executive committee for many years. He also served on the Chicago Board of Trade and Chicago Mercantile Exchange’s Futures Commission Merchants (FCM) committees during the 90s. Hal retired from Cargill in 1998.

Hal is survived by the love of his life, Lou Ann, and three children Murray and wife Sharon, Erik, Kris Ann Phillips and husband Phil, grandchildren: Holly Jarvis, Haley Pinder, Quinn Hansen, Niels Hansen, Christian Hansen, Juliann Phillips and Stephanie Phillips; great grandchildren Larson Alligood, Caroline Alligood, Graysen Pinder and Clayton Pinder; nieces and nephews: Dan Murray, Jack Murray, Mary Wyllie and Susan Stark.

He is preceded in death by his parents Helge and Mary Hansen and his sister Karen Petitt.

Visitation will be held at the Bower Chapel at Moorings Park on June 18th at 1pm, followed by the memorial service at 2pm with a reception to follow.
