Obituary for James Floyd Conway

He was a huge blessing to us. He was not perfect – but loved and followed Jesus.

Literally thousands of people have become Christians because of his ministry. He was a shy person by nature. But when God called him into the ministry, he obeyed and stepped out despite his trepidation.

He pastored four different churches. He was far ahead of his time in how he ministered to people.
He began house churches and small group ministries long before anyone had heard of such a thing.
He started a college for lay ministers.
His first book “Men in Midlife Crisis” transformed not only Christian circles but non-Christians circles. He is the one that coined the term midlife crisis.

He taught at Talbot seminary which is a part of BILOA University in California. He eventually became the director of the M. Div. department.

Even though he had terrible grades in high school and was admitted to college only on a provision that he completes extensive remedial work he was an extremely intelligent man who eventually had many degrees to his name. He had a Masters in Divinity and Pastoral Counseling, a Doctorate in education and theology.
Despite all of his fame, he remained a loving and connected dad. He is the main one who taught how to live life – not only practically – with rebuilding car engines, construction, gardening, and survival skills…but how to live life as a godly person!

He had been suffering with Lewy Body Dementia over the pas several years. At Easter he told jokes and wanted to hear scripture, and to sing hymns. He gave Michael a spiritual blessing and passed on to him the mantle of being leader of our family.

He loved and served the Lord our God in a humble and courageous manner up until the end – he finished well!!!
