Jeanette Margaret Turansky lost her courageous battle with cancer on Monday, January 11, 2021, while resting comfortably at Hope Hospice, Joanne’s House. Jeanette Margaret, daughter of William James MacDonald and Christina Agnes Webb MacDonald, was born on July 5, 1934, while her father was stationed with the British Military, in Meerut, India. She spent her childhood and young adulthood in Bexhill, Sussex, England, until emigrating to Canada, then the United States. She became a Naturalized U.S. Citizen in 1979 and obtained her law degree from University of Houston Law School.
Jeanette married the love of her life, John Turansky on December 23, 1966, and after full careers they retired to Naples Florida in 2003. John died in October of 2010 and Jeanette relocated to Bonita Springs to dedicate her time and talents to multiple missions at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. Most recently she served as Chair of the Pastoral Care Team, which prays for and visits homebound, hospitalized or those in rehab, as well as Chair of Walking the Mourner’s Path, a program for those who have recently lost loved ones. Jeanette was a great historian and storyteller, friend to many and an inspiration to all.
She is survived by a niece, Elaine Edwards of Australia and many devoted friends.
A Memorial Service is planned for Thursday, January 28th, 10 AM, at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 9801 Bonita Beach Road, Bonita Springs. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jeanette’s memory may be made to St. Mary’s Episcopal Church or Joanne’s House in Bonita Springs.
