In Loving Memory of Joan DiPasquale (nee Josephine Brucato) born August 9, 1930 in Buffalo, New York and died on June 4, 2021 in Naples, Florida. Joan spent her life in Buffalo until relocating permanently to Naples 4 years ago due to health concerns. After a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s, she found peace.

Without a doubt we lost an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Joan was the glue that held our family together. When younger she took loving care of her parents, raised our family, and worked outside of the home for over 30 years. After graduating from Sacred Heart Academy High School, she attended Buffalo State College. After having her children, she started working for Bell Telephone in the 70’s, later known as Verizon. She finished her successful career in the telecommunications business department of Verizon when she retired in her 60s.

She married the love of her life, Thomas DiPasquale “Tommy D”, in 1953. Tom regrettably preceded her in death last June 2020. Joan is survived by her three children Joanne Lubin (Bill), Thomas DiPasquale (Annette), and Betsy DiPasquale (Sandy), 7 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both her parents and siblings.

While Joan worked outside the home, she also kept busy with friends, cousins, and others; however, her true love was her family. She took loving care of her husband, was a super mom, and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joan continued the family tradition of Italian cooking and was an amazing baker. One never left a meal hungry when she was cooking.

Her grandchildren called her Grandma Joan or Noni. All of them adored not only her love and affection, but her signature manicotti served with her delicious sauce and meat balls. You would think she had made enough for two meals, but there would be a fight for the last ones. Plus there was never a meal without her amazing pies or other desserts.

Aside from cooking, she was a do-it-yourself woman no doubt. She painted, wall papered, and even put in a linoleum kitchen floor. Joan was a gem on so many levels, it would take a book with many chapters to share her story.

There will be a memorial service for both Joan and Tom in September that will be held at Canisius College in Buffalo. Joan and Tom will be laid to rest in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Buffalo following the memorial service.

Donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
