Obituary for Judy Ann Chargot

Judy Chargot was a beloved wife, mother, sister and dear friend to so many. After a courageous battle with cancer she went to be with God on April 3, 2023 at 70 years young. Judy was surrounded by her family who filled her world with joy and happiness and were by her side until her very last breath.

Born to Helen and Charles Barrett on September 5, 1952 in her home town of Port Huron, Michigan. Judy spent most of her life there and always considered it home. She married her 4th grade square dance partner, Michael Chargot Jr. in 1976. They had 2 beautiful daughters, Christee Chargot and Dr. Michelle DiLella and their very special son in law Robert DiLella Jr. She is also survived by her sisters, Barbara Vollmer (Dennis Vollmer), Pat Strehl (Chuck Strehl), and brothers Tom Barrett (Sandi Barrett), and Charlie Barrett (Bonnie Barrett). Also, her precious caretaker Yeyvelin Palomo who was by her side during the last year of her life and loved her like her own family. She has many special nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grand children as well as many devoted friends.

Judy filled everyday with joy and was a constant inspiration with her devoting love for family and friends, always making the most of every day. She had a passion for travel, volunteering, dancing and knitting baby blankets. Judy and Mike won their last dance contest on a cruise in 2019. Even though cancer entered her life, she never stopped from continuing her many friendships filled with laughter and joy. What a gift to all of us, as she was known for her contagious laugh, constant smile, true kindness and love for Jesus Christ.

True to her determination and goals, Judy earned her education degree from Central Michigan University and her Master’s in Education from Saginaw Valley. Her passion for teaching radiated through Port Huron for 30 years as she taught kindergarten, Physical Education and 2nd grade. She was blessed to be everyone’s favorite teacher, no matter their age. She absolutely loved all of her kids in her class, and she passed on her joy of teaching to benefit so many children and adults.

Judy leaves behind a family that will continue to serve and spread word of God. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in Judy’s memory to Summit Church 19601 Ben Hill Griffin Pkwy Fort Myers, FL 33923.
