Obituary for Mable Cynthia Peters

Mable Cythia Rose Peters was born in St George Grenada to Violet Joseph and Bertrand Sullivan on December 17th 1936. Mable spent her adolescent years in St Vincent and then to migrated to Trinidad in her teenage years. Mable acquired many skills during this time such as sewing, hair dressing, and cake decorating. While in Trinidad Mable met Irvin Peters and they were married on April 17th 1966. Mable migrated to America in 1967.

Mable and Irvin lived in Brooklyn, NY for 8 years where they started their family before moving to Queens NY. Mable and Irvin resided in Queens for 24 years raising their family making every Thanksgiving by Aunty Mable a must attend event. An event that brought both sides of her family together for a truly festive time where she would stay up night and day cooking making sure everything was perfect. Mable held a few jobs including domestic work, Burlington Industries, JFK, and her last job was at Barnard College where she worked for 17 years.

Mable attended Sacred Heart RC church, Queens NY when she became a member of Troop 333 boy scout committee and an Eucharistic minister. Mable completed the Scouter development course and was a religious emblem counselor. Mable also earned the Bronze Pelican award for religious duties and the district award of merit. Thought out this time. Mable continued to use the skills she learned by sewing and icing wedding cakes, she could make anything from a simple Hawaiian suit to a exquisite wedding dress or even a Carnival costume. Mable decorated fancy wedding cakes, 6 to 10 cake spreads.

After retiring from Barnard College/Columbia University, Mable and Irvin relocated to Lehigh Acres Florida where she spent the next 22 years in the sun. Mable is survived by her Husband Irvin C Peters, daughter Vanessa Peters, son Irvin Peters Jr, grandchildren Jordan and Isaiah Trim, sister Joyce Corneal, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends residing in Florida, NY, Maryland, Canada, and Trinidad. Mable was preceded by sisters Marie and Patricia and brother Norbert.

Family will receive visitors on Friday, January 27, 2023, beginning at 1:00pm at Legacy Options Fort Myers. The service will begin at 2:00pm. Arrangements for Mable Cynthia Peters are under the direction of Legacy Options Funeral & Cremation Services - Fort Myers.
