Dear Jim and families,
How sad I am to read in the Emmons County Record that Marcella died.!!! How sad I am for all of you who will miss her so much!
Marcella and I became best friends back in 1964 after her graduation from high school. She became the priest's housekeeper at St. Michael's Church in rural Emmons County, my home parish. It was the summer after my junior in high school. We were inseparable that summer! And for the next year. I'm sure you heard many stories about those days. I have valued her friendship ever since even though we did not see each other very often! I had always hoped to visit you in Florida. And this past year was the year to do that until the Covid appeared.
It's so strange but in the last several month you and Marcella have been on my mind....maybe because of the hurricanes and my fear that you may have been hurt by them. Now I realize that the spirit world was preparing me for the news that Marcella died.
The last time I saw her and you all was at Mark's funeral in Jamestown. What an honor it was to see you and grief with you all then. I will never forget the pain she felt for her son and his family.
Jim, you were the best blessing in Marcella's life! As I'm sure she was for you. She found happiness with you.
I know you don't know yet when the memorial service will be in Linton, but I would very much like to join you there.
Would you please let me know when it will be? My phone number is 701-391-5344.. The number is maybe on Marcella's phone.
My sincere sympathy! Words cannot really comfort you as I would like them to, but know that you are in my prayers. I wish you comfort in knowing that one day at the Great Reunion we will all be together again. She is now face to face with the God who loves her and I'm sure she is with the ones she loved so much. She remains in your memory, your heart, walking with you on the beaches of Florida.
