On Saturday February 20, 2021 Margaret Ellen (Marge) Hergenreder, 94, previously of Glenshaw, Pennsylvania, went to Heaven after peacefully passing away in Naples, Florida.
The Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Thursday May 6, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at Christ Episcopal Church, 5910 Babcock Blvd, Ross Township, Pennsylvania with Reverend John Shoucair officiating. A private burial will follow at Allegheny County Memorial Park, Allison Park, Pennsylvania.
Margaret was born on June 19, 1926 in the family farmhouse in Plum Township, Pennsylvania. Following her High School graduation, she worked as a telephone operator at S. S. White Dental Company in Pittsburgh where she met her future husband William. They married August 24, 1946 and honeymooned in Niagara Falls. Margaret later worked as a bank teller for Equibank and in the credit offices of Kaufmanns Department Store.
After her retirement, Margaret was very active for many years delivering Meals on Wheels and was a group tour leader for Glenshaw A.A.R.P. She loved her Pittsburgh Pirates and attended many games with family and friends. Margaret’s foremost love was of her family and cherished each one.
In 2004 after several health issues, Margaret moved to Naples, Florida to be near her daughter Barbara. She thrived there and enjoyed water aerobics, card games, dominos, Friday dinners out and attended many social activities and trips.
Margaret is survived by her 4 loving children- daughter Barbara (David) Scheible of Naples, Florida, son Donald (Barbara) of State College, Pennsylvania, son Thomas (Cindy) of Lago Vista, Texas and son Mark (Lorraine) of Chelsea, Michigan, her cherished 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband William A. Hergenreder, her parents Ralph S. and Mary Huston Ritter, brother Roy Ritter and sister Hazel Kierstine. She is survived by her two sisters Jane Kirchartz and Jeannette Underwood and a brother Ralph Ritter.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests a donation in Margaret’s honor to one of the following organizations that were extremely helpful to Margaret’s family:
