On January 1, 2021 as the world welcomed a New Year with hope, our family lost our beloved Mio and the world was robbed of a beautiful and incredibly talented soul. He was only 53 years old. Services were held at St. Paul Orthodox Church on January 5th and he was laid to rest at Naples Memorial Gardens in Florida.

Mio was a first generation American, born and raised in Chicago. He was the youngest of three children of Predrag and Bosiljka Stojkovich from the former Yugoslavia (now Serbia). His parents immigrated to the United States in 1960. He was instilled with a strong work ethic and love for America from a young age, which he took to heart achieving an inspiring career in engineering and venture capital.
Anyone who new Mio was charmed by his intelligence, wit, humor, and generosity. Tall, blonde, blue-eyed and handsome; Mio was our family’s golden child. Mio was not just a pretty face – he was great at anything he did.

Mio always stood out from the crowd. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1989. He was a member of the Acacia fraternity while on campus. After graduation he worked for Motorola and traveled extensively internationally developing the technical infrastructure for cellular phone communications, what was then a nascent technology. While still working at Motorola, Mio was accepted to graduate school at the University of Chicago and received a Master’s in Business Administration.

Mio went on to work for William Blaire and Associates in the field of venture capital where he used his engineering and business expertise to help raise funds for promising new start-up companies. He later managed various private investment funds.

Mio was blessed with a beautiful, supportive, and loving wife, Janell Goode; who stood by his side through thick and thin. They moved to Orange County, California in 2015 to pursue his dream of starting his own private equity firm. They were married in 2018 in a stunning ceremony overlooking the California coastline in Rancho Palos Verdes. Mio was also the father of two lovely children, Maya (21) and Andrew (19) who are pursuing their educations at Lehigh and Boston Universities, respectively. He was extremely proud of his children.

Tragically, Mio’s life was cut short, and he has left a yawning gap in the lives of his family, friends, and business associates. We will miss Mio’s laughter and great sense of humor; his sense of style; and his ongoing desire to surround himself with those he loved.

Mio is survived by his wife Janell (nee Goode), daughter Maya, son Andrew, parents Predrag and Bosiljka, sister Annette Chinn, brother Goran, nephews Nathan and Alexander Chinn and Luka Stojkovich, niece Aleksandra (Sasha) Stojkovich, and aunt Nada Porter.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Orange County Animal Allies (formerly SPCA) or your local food bank.

Kind, friendly, intelligent and curious. He was a member of the Chicago venture community who I had hoped to spend more time with. What a loss, Eternal be his memory
