Patricia Ann (Pat) Hutchinson, 65, of Naples, FL, passed away on April 6th, 2021 after a brief illness.

Pat was born in New Bedford, MA to Clifford & Blanche Preston on March 13th, 1956. She went to Fairhaven High School, graduated in 1974, and joined the National Guard shortly after. She was an EMT for the City of New Bedford for 25 years; it was so much more than just a job to her: it was something she was born to do. From saving lives, to delivering babies, and even being blessed by Mother Teresa, being an EMT meant everything to her. She was happiest spending time with, and caring for, family and friends. She was known for her spontaneity, traveling as often as possible and always looking for the next adventure. She loved the beach and could often be found there when she didn’t have anywhere else to be. With Pat, there was always another story or memory she needed to share, often told through handwritten letters to family and friends. She was a truly loving soul and meant so much to so many, she will be deeply missed.

Pat is survived by her daughter Kate Martinez; her sons Marc Hutchinson and his wife Jaclyn, Joshua Hutchinson and his fiancé Diane Ashley; her brothers Robert Preston and wife Eve, Donald Preston and his wife Viki, Lawrence Preston and his significant other Marta Rocha, Paul Preston and his significant other Dianne Vance; former spouse Paul Hutchinson; 5 grandchildren; 8 nieces and nephews; and many amazing friends.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, April 22nd, from 4pm-7pm at Fairlawn Funeral Home, 180 Washington Street in Fairhaven. Funeral service will be held at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 884 Kempton Street in New Bedford, on Friday, April 23rd at 10am, with additional visitation prior to the service from 9:30am-10am. Interment will be private, at Riverside Cemetery. All appropriate COVID-19 precautions will be observed during all portions of the arrangements.
