Renee Licht, age 93, died peacefully on February 9, 2021
She was born to Maurice and Rose Meyers in Rockaway Beach, NY. She lived in Chicago and Waukegan, Illinois; Islamorada, and most recently, Naples in Florida.
She was sister to Howard (1924 – 2015)/Jan Meyers, married to Harold (Hal) Licht for 32 years until he died in 1979, mom to John D Licht (1949 – 1966), Marla Lee, and Michael A Licht, grandmother to Mark Adams (1976 – 1996), Lee Kuebler, Hal, and Olivia Licht, and GG to Oscar and Quinn Kuebler. Last but certainly not least, a long time companion to Walter Steeves.
She should have been called Wonder Woman but was known as Reenee to most. She graduated from high school early and attended the U of I at age 17. Her working career included District Office Manager and Campaign Assistant Manager for Robert McClory – Member of Congress, Washington, D.C. She was also Executive Secretary to the VP of Cherry Electrical Products. In addition, she was a Restauranteur, Officer of Hadassah, and had a Bookkeeping and Computer Support business.
There was nothing she couldn’t do with a needle and thread; seamstress, knitting, crocheting, tatting, and quilting. Anyone close to her has some form of her beautiful artwork. She had no idea how unique her talents were. She was loved and respected by all who knew her, stubborn and honest, and lived her life her way until the very last breath.
