Obituary for Robert Livingston Duane

Robert Livingston Duane went home to be with the Lord early Sunday morning with his loving wife and stepson by his side. He was born March 20, 1950 in Washington D.C. to the late Gladys Olivia Duane and Robert Constable Duane. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Rosalba Duane, his stepson, Diego Andres Perdomo Torres, sister Carol Rose Duane, and many dear lifelong friends.

He studied and earned his bachelor's and master's degree in Regional and Community Planning at Kansas State University. He was a city planner in several places around the country including Austin, Sanibel, and Naples, and after working for 22 years at Hole Montes, he retired and started his own company, Robert L. Duane & Associates. He was a proud Charter Member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, and he used his expertise to modify and make plans for cities and developments, modify zoning, and serve as an expert witness in litigation over land use. Robert was appointed to the Southwest Florida Regional Planning Council and the Governor's Commission for a Sustainable Florida by Governor Lawton Chiles. Even with all his other accomplishments and commitments, he became a licensed realtor under Paul Hardy.

He was an avid traveler and loved exploring many parts of the world. Robert also loved to be out on the water, especially on his sailboat. He enjoyed entertaining friends, and his gregarious spirit will be incredibly missed. A celebration of his life will be held at New Hope Ministries at 7675 Davis Blvd, Naples at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 29. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory at Harry Chapin Food Bank, to the United Way, St. Matthew's House, or to New Hope Ministries.
