Obituary for Rosalina Maro

Rosalina “Rose” Maro (nee Panozzo) was called to the Lord on Sunday August 14, 2022 at the age of 76. She was born in Zugliano, Vicenza, Italy to the late John and Virginia Panozzo (nee Scandian) on June 27, 1946. She grew up with 7 siblings and came to the United States at the age of 5 settling in the Pullman area of Chicago, IL. She attended Fenger High School and was the first runner up in the Miss Columbus Day Pageant in 1968. She married Anthony “Tony/Duke” Maro, her best friend and the love of her life on November 9, 1974. Their 48-year love-story was a great example of what a marriage should personify.

In 1993 Rose, Tony and their daughters moved to Florida where she worked at the Naples Yacht Club for 20 years. She loved living Naples, being with family and friends, travelling (especially cruising), however her greatest joy was being “Noni” to her 5 grandchildren. She was a woman of faith, strong-willed, compassionate, loving and artistic. She will be remembered for her passion for life, competitive spirit, welcoming personality, creative inventions and deep love of family – she always made sure everyone near or far felt her love.

Rose will be deeply missed by her devoted husband Anthony, daughters Michelle (Christian), Renee and Melissa (Peter), and five adoring grandchildren, Luke (7), Blake (5), Sophie (4), Alexander (3) and Cole (2); by siblings Tony, Emily, Livia, Flavia and Ennio; and many nieces and nephews. Rose is preceded in death by her brother Silvio and sister Giselle.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on, Monday, August 29, 2022, 10:00 AM at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 5130 Rattlesnake Hammock Road, Naples. It will also be livestreamed at the following link: https://youtu.be/2pbDYkSMPs4.
