Obituary for Scott Roy Bowers

Scott Roy Bowers, 68, of Goodland, FL, passed away on September 15, 2022 in Naples, FL.

Scott was born in Canton, OH to Ruth and Rolland (Bud) Bowers on May 13, 1954. He graduated from Lake High School in Uniontown, OH in 1972. He went on to earn a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Akron and worked as a mechanical engineer for DLH Industries in Canton, OH until retirement, when he moved to Goodland, FL. He loved playing his guitar, playing pickle ball, fishing, boating, scuba diving adventures, and riding his bike around the island with his beloved dogs, Martin and Fender, running beside him. He loved volunteering at the Naples Zoo and was especially passionate about his volunteer work with the Conservancy of SW FL at the Von Arx Wildlife Hospital. He enjoyed “walking” the tortoises and loved being on call to help rescue injured birds and other animals. He carried an animal rescue kit in his car so he could jump in to help at a moment’s notice.

Scott is survived by former wife Elizabeth Esterle and their children Margaret (James) Hicks, Joseph Bowers, Jacqueline (Marcos) Sosa, and grandchildren Charlotte, Grant, Rhett, and Vivienne Sosa. He is also survived by his siblings Sharon (George) Bowers, Brian (Julie) Bowers, and Susan (Frank) Peters.

Memorial donations may be made to Conservancy of Southwest Florida, 1495 Smith Preserve Way, Naples, FL 34102 (conservancy.org). The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Scott’s extended family of dear friends and neighbors in Goodland and especially Drop Anchor for your love and support and for enriching dad’s life in immeasurable ways.
