Obituary for Sharon Horner

It is with deep sadness but a peaceful heart that we announce the passing of Sharon Nash Horner on May 15, 2023, in Naples, Florida. Sharon, who was 80 years old, was born on May 14, 1943, in Staples, Minnesota, to her late parents, Russell Morrison and June Cox Page. Sharon was a woman of many talents and spent her life serving others. She was highly respected in her profession as a real estate agent, having achieved great success in both Pinellas and Collier Counties. After her career in real estate, she worked at the Naples Daily News Classified Dept, and dealt Poker at the Seminole Casino Immokalee and Naples/Ft. Myers Dog Track. Prior to all, she managed KSTP TV Credit Union. Her work ethic and dedication to everything she did were second to none.

Sharon was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church in St. Petersburg, FL, and Faith Lutheran in Naples, FL, where she found solace and comfort in the teachings of her faith. She had a love for fishing, music (ABBA, Bee Gees and Charlie Rich were favorites) and was a collector of Agates. Sharon had a passion for being incredibly hospitable to friends and family and often strangers.

Cher Horner, as she was affectionately called by her family and friends, was an independent woman who cherished her family with all her heart and loved the Lord. Her kindness, determination, and unwavering strength were characteristics that endeared her to those around her. Sharon will be greatly missed by her beloved husband, Kenneth Horner, her cherished daughter, Jane Wingate and her husband Bill Wingate, her devoted grandson, Tyler Ostrowski, grandson, Craig Wingate and her step-children, Lisa Horner Phalen, Mary Horner Tomaino, Matthew Horner, and Gregory Horner and Gabby Eizaga, like another daughter. Sharon was preceded in death by her brother, Gary Morrison, mother, June Cox Page, her father, Russell Morrison, and her grandparents, Grace and William Cox.

We invite you to join us in paying our respects to Sharon by attending a service in memory and celebration of her life at New Hope Ministries on June 8, 2023, at 10am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, St. Matthews House, Wounded Warriors, or Tunnels to Towers. Sharon will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her memory will be treasured forever.
