Obituary for William McAuliffe

On Tuesday, August 4, 2020, William McAuliffe, loving husband and father of four children, passed away at the age of 78.

William was born on April 4, 1942 in Paterson, NJ to William and Frances McAuliffe. Bill served our country in the National Guard during the Vietnam War. He worked for PSE&G and Olivetti-Underwood before his long and successful career with State Farm starting in 1968 in underwriting before moving to South Jersey in 1972 and opening his own agency in Glassboro, retiring in 2019. On April 28, 1989 he married his wife Doreen. He was very active with the Woodbury Country Club in New Jersey as well as Foxfire Country Club in Naples. During his time in Naples, Bill was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

William was a fabulous husband, father and grandfather, kind, faithful, loving and caring. Always there for everyone in his life, a natural leader. He had a tendency for his words to stick around even after he left the room. He loved to golf and hated leftovers. His presence will be missed by many but the heartfelt memories will remain for eternity.

William was preceded in death by his father, William, his mother Frances and his sister Frances. He is survived by his wife Doreen, his children, Troy McAuliffe (Joanne), Tara Reitano (Joseph) his stepchildren Leonard Emrick and Kelley Antunes (Paul), his grandchildren Caige, Michael, Adrianna, Sophia, Gabriella and Ian and his siblings Sister Doris Mical, Arlene Riggio and Kevin McAuliffe.

A service for immediate family will be held in Naples, FL and a memorial service will be held at a later date in New Jersey. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to any of these organizations that Bill considered dear to his heart. www.sayskids.org (where his grandson Caige works) St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Hospital for Children.
