Obituary for Yolande Ann Dumont

Yolande Dumont (nee Dionne) was born on April 16, 1943 in Grand Falls, Canada, and passed peacefully at home on October 25, 2022 after a prolonged and heroic battle with cancer, with her husband and daughter at her bedside.

Yolande was the daughter of Adjutor and Mary Anne Dionne. After attending boarding school, she obtained her nursing degree from Hotel Dieu in Edmonston, New Brunswick, and worked as a hospital and school nurse. At age 18 Yolande met Wil Dumont, the love of her life, whom she impetuously married in 1961, culminating in 62 years of adventure together.

The couple lived in Van Buren, Maine, where Yolande became an American citizen. They had one cherished daughter, Michelle. Their international travels started in 1973, when Yolande and Wil moved to Guinea, Africa, where Wil served as a school principal. Subsequently they lived in Zambia, South Africa, and Kuwait. They then returned to live in Boston, where Yolande and Wil co-founded Investor Strategies, a financial investment firm, in 1985. After enjoying great professional success, they sold the firm in 2000, allowing them to cruise and travel extensively around the world. Yolande especially enjoyed Bangkok, where she spent the winters for 14 years. In 2003 they moved to their permanent home in Naples, Florida, where, after having grown up experiencing harsh Maine winters, Yolande greatly enjoyed the warm tropical climate. She made friends throughout her life, but especially during these final years in Naples.

Yolande is survived by her husband Wil, her daughter Michelle (married to John Nestler), and her adult grandchildren John and Matthew. She is also survived by her siblings, Marie Pal of Kansas City, Mo; Maurice Dionne of Plaster Rock, New Brunswick; Reggie Dionne of Grand Falls, New Brunswick; and Louis Philip Dionne of Fredericksburg, Virginia.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank Lisa Gonzalez and the hospice nurses of AVOW for their compassionate care. They were angels sent by God for Yolande and her family. Special thanks also to Dina, who lovingly cared for Yolande during the final chapter of her life.

A funeral service will be held at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church (5130 Rattlesnake Hammock Rd, South Naples, Florida) on November 4, 2022 at 10:00 AM. The service will be live streamed by clicking here and recorded. A reception following the service will be held at The Arlington (7900 Arlington Boulevard, Naples).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that friends and family celebrate Yolande’s life by making donations to AVOW Hospice. Direct link below
