Steven Donald Alander a lifelong resident of Naples, passed away from complications due to Covid on December 21, 2020. Fortunately, his entire family was with him when he passed from this world, a blessing during these times. Steve was born on October 1, 1951 in Bloomington, MN and was a baby when he arrived in Naples. He is predeceased by his father, Fred. He is survived by his wife, Judy Dulaney Alander. They were blessed to share 51 years together with, daughter, Mandi Amell, the light of his life, and two precious grandchildren, who in his heart, hung the moon, Robert and Mia, son in law Mark Amell, mother, Dolly, brothers, Tim and Randy and sister, Cheryl. He has several nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved.

Steve grew up here which was the best of times in Naples, a small town where a kid could fish all night at the pier and parents didn’t have to worry. Steve worked construction with his father for years and consequently, knew Collier County like the back of his hand. Graduating from Naples High School, in between surf trips to Cocoa Beach and hunting and air boating in the everglades. It was a normal progression to work on cars, which he had a natural ability and knack and the more difficult the problem, the more he enjoyed the project. He would race anything that had a motor, from dirt bikes to cars at tracks from VIR in Virginia to Florida tracks at Sebring, Daytona and Homestead, always pushing the rules just as far as he could.

Steve never met a stranger and had friends from all over. He lived a wonderful life, accomplished more than one can imagine, just gone way too soon; If Steve called you his friend, well, you were rich beyond imagination; He would do anything to help anyone, no questions asked. He loved the quote, life is not measured by the breaths we take but by the moments that take your breath away. He had many of those in his life. Call your Mom, your significant other, your son or daughter or your best friend and in Steve’s memory, tell them how much they mean to you. This life we have is not a dress rehearsal.

Services will be private for the family with a celebration of Steve’s wonderful rich life at a later date, hopefully when Covid has gone and we can all hug one another.
